Agnus Day (the only Lectionary-based comic strip in the whole world)

The congregation met following worship on Sunday, April 27 to act on the nomination by  the Pastoral Search Committee of The Reverend Ronal K. Freyer-Nicholas, OSL, to be the fourth settled Pastor and Teacher of Pilgrims' UCC. Following an opportunity for questions, Pastor Ron received an affirmative vote of more than 85% of the votes cast.

The congregation will welcome representatives from other UCC Florida Conference churches, members of the Conference Church & Ministry Committee, and Conference Staff to celebrate his installation at 4 p.m., Sunday, October 12. Following the service everyone is invited to a reception and light supper. The event is open to the public.

Wednesdays, beginning Oct 22, 4:00 p.m., we will have an opportunity for fellowship, food, a movie, and discussion. The airing of the video will be in our Fellowship Hall, but the meal to follow may be (at the group's discretion) pot luck, ordered in, or at the NY Cafe, a favorite for many members of our congregation.

Discussions will be led and moderated by Daryl Taylor-Hazel.

A list of movies to be aired has not been finalized at this time, though we do plan to see "For the Bible Tells Me So" on Oct 29.

2008 is a year for Ordination Anniversaries at Pilgrims'. Five of our clergy members are celebrating milestones:

• Rev. Richard Zulauf marks the 50th anniversary of his ordination June 8.
• Rev. Dr. John Faulstich marks the 47th anniversary of his ordination September 17.
• Rev. Robert Van Valkenburg marks the 35th anniversary of his ordination July 23.
• Pastor Ron Freyer-Nicholas and Rev. Inga Freyer-Nicholas will mark the 20th anniversary of their ordination May 29.

A joint celebration is being planned, on Sunday, November 16, with Dr. David Greenhaw, President of Eden Theological Seminary present and preaching. Members of the Florida Conference Staff are also expected to take part. Following worship, a Thanksgiving Dinner will be served in Fellowship Hall. More details will be posted as they become available.
